general questions
What are your store hours?
10am to 7pm Monday through Friday; 10am to 6pm on Saturday; and Sundays from 12 noon to 6pm.
How can I get in touch with you?
Our contact information is on our About Us page.
How do I get to your store?
Morrison Brothers is located at 127 Dyess Road (click for map), at the corner of I-55 and County Line Road in Ridgeland, MS.
If you're coming from Jackson, take I-55 north to the County Line Road exit, cross County Line Road but stay to the right, and you can turn in behind our store from Frontage Road.
If you're coming from north of Ridgeland, take I-55 south to the County Line exit, turn left on County Line and stay in the left lane; turn left as if you're going back north on I-55 and stay on the right, then turn in behind our building on Frontage Road. Parking is around the front of the store.
What instruments do you carry?
Guitars, basses, keyboards, drums, percussion, band horns, marching percussion, pianos, organs, recording equipment, live sound equipment, and so on -- practically every music instrument and accessory from practically every manufacturer. Check out our store departments, or visit our webstore for more information.
Do you buy instruments?
Occasionally we do. If your instrument or equipment is in good shape and we think we can resell it, we may make you an offer. As always, though, you'll get more out of selling it directly to another individual.
What is your return policy?
Please click HERE to be directed to our return policy page.
Do you price-match?
We're confident our prices match those that are advertised nationally, but if you find a lower advertised price, bring in a hard copy and we'll match it.
repair services
What does Morrison Brothers repair?
We will repair most electronic and acoustic musical instruments and sound equipment. We do not repair home electronics or appliances.
Do you repair on-site?
Most items are repaired on site; if we need to ship something away, we'll let you know beforehand.
What are your rates?
» $85 / hour labor plus parts & shipping (if applicable) for electronics repair; min. 1 hour
» $45 / hour labor plus parts & shipping (if applicable) on small electronics (guitar pedals, direct boxes, etc.); min. 1 hour
» Repairs for guitars and band instruments vary per job.
How much time will it take to repair my gear?
Please allow 2 to 3 weeks for complete turn-around unless we have to ship it away or have a lot in front of you. Wait times for band instruments are generally longer in the summer (pre-band season), but shorter in the winter.
Can I put a rush on it?
We can't guarantee anything will be repaired immediately, but we can put you at the front of the line for an additional $50.
Will someone call me with an estimate?
If you request an estimate, we will gladly call you once we've determined how much your repair will cost. If you do not request one, we will move forward on the repair.
How long do I have to pick up my gear if I don't want it repaired?
Please pick up your gear within one week from the day we call you with the estimate. Note that you will need to pay the bench charge before you take it.
What is a "bench charge"?
This is the cost of inspecting and diagnosing your gear. The charge is the equivalent of one hour's labor -- $85, or $45 for small electronics -- except for mixing boards, which take longer to diagnose, and you will be charged regular hourly rates.
Do you honor manufacturer's warranties?
Our policy is to offer repairs under warranty for only those instruments or equipment sold by Morrison Brothers Music. Regular rates apply for repairs on instruments or equipment purchased elsewhere and brought to us to be fixed.
Am I charged if no problem is found?
Yes; for one hour's labor ($85). Please be sure there's a physical problem with the instrument, and it's not user error, but if you believe your instrument or equipment is flawed, please be as specific as possible when checking it in.
Will someone call me when my repair is finished?
Yes we will. Please allow 2 weeks for your repair to be completed before calling and checking on the status of your repair, unless otherwise informed at check-in. Note that all repairs must be paid in full before you take your gear home.
How long do I have to pick up my gear?
Please pick up your gear within 30 days after it's finished. If you need more time, please let us know; if left for an extended period of time, we will assume you have abandoned your gear and we'll sell it for the cost of the repair.
How long are repairs warranted?
30 days from pick-up, unless otherwise noted.
instruction / lessons
What instruments do you teach?
Currently we offer lessons in piano, guitar, drums, violin, bass guitar, banjo, mandolin, dobro, and fiddle.
How much are lessons?
$80 to $90 per month, depending on the teacher.
How many lessons does that give me?
Four 30 minute lessons per month, taught weekly.
What do I need to bring?
Your instrument, assigned sheet music, and a pencil.
Do I need to practice?
YES! You will get far more out of your lessons, and a better return on your investment, if you spend time on your own mastering the techniques and exercises you learn in your lessons. Practicing will enable you to advance in your studies much faster!
What if I can't make a lesson?
Unless it's an emergency or you contact us well in advance of a lesson you cannot attend, rescheduling is not available, particularly for no-shows. We cannot guarantee make-up lessons, though, due to the fact that our teachers are generally booked solid. Speak to your individual instructor for details.
When are lesson fees due?
Fees are due for the upcoming month at the time of your first lesson that month, and pay your instructor in person.
Can I take just one lesson?
We don't teach one-off lessons. Our lesson plans are designed to teach you what you need to play a lot of music, not just one song.
How do I become a teacher?
Currently we have a full roster of teachers.
Do you teach music theory ?
All our instruction is centered on learning to play an instrument, but reading music and some basic music theory is integrated into our lessons.
I'm an advanced player, but I want to learn something new; can I take lessons?
Absolutely! If we can teach it, we'll take you on. We have every kind of student, from child beginners to child prodigies, and adult beginners as well as veteran musicians looking to stay sharp and learn new things.
guitar department
Do you restring guitars? If so, how much?
Yes we do; the cost is $10 plus the cost of the strings (unless you bring in your own).
Do you set up guitars? How much?
» $30 for standard setup, which includes setting the intonation, neck adjustments, and setting the string height;
» $45 for standard setup that includes a Floyd Rose;
» All other services, such as fret redressing, are charged per job; see one of our sales reps for details.
Do you repair guitars? What are your rates?
Yes we do. We can perform repairs on all electric and acoustic guitars, from the electronics to the wood construction. Repair rates vary per job, so bring your axe in and let us check it out and give you a quote.
Do you offer guitar lessons?
Absolutely! We provide lessons for beginners through advanced players, adults and children alike, and we tailor lesson plans for individual students. For details, see our lessons page.
